Nuala Maracas
Nuala first entered Second Life in 2004 and immediately got stuck under a bridge for hours. She logged off and swore she would never be back. Thankfully she did try again and officially began her journey in SL journey in September 2004. Nuala stumbled across a club, La Vie En Rose where she met Trader1 Whiplash. He promptly told her the 1 was silent and a bond began that will last a lifetime in and out of Second Life

DJing in Second Life since 2005, as well as being co-owner of T1Radio with Trader, Nuala plays a variety of musical genres. Classic Rock, 70’s, 80’s, Blues and Swing-Jazz are the favorite musical sounds she likes to listen to and play. New Rock of today that will be the Classic Rock of tomorrow is also in the lineup. Songs that you can sing along with or tap your toes to. Songs that bring back memories or create new ones. Nuala’s sets are entertaining, spontaneous, fun. She bets you can’t stop yourself from chair dancing a time or two. In 2008 Nuala participated in the Spacial Audio Top DJ Competition and won. Her prize was lifetime access to SAM (a DJ broadcasting program).
Nuala has been involved in Relay For Life in Second Life since 2005, is one of the founding members and current captain of the Relay Rockers team, the oldest Relay team in Second Life. She has participated on the Relay Committee over the past 15 years in various roles including Relay Event Co-Chair in 2009, 2010 and 2016, as well as Relay Event Chair in 2017 & 2018. Nuala also represented RFL of SL at the Relay For Life National Leadership Summit in Texas in 2009 and 2010, where she received training from members of the national Relay Training Team, which she shared with participants in SL.
Nuala is currently the Event Coordinator for the American Cancer Society Region, Coordinator for the SL Christmas Expo supporting the ACS, and Coordinator of the SL Renaissance Festival supporting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. In addition to Relay For Life, Nuala is also a big supporter of the Dreams Community. Since 2007 she does a DJ show the first Monday of every month for their Musical Speed Build event. Dreams is a support community for stroke survivors and those affected by Asperger’s syndrome in Second Life.
Nuala’s passion for Relay For Life also extended into the non-virtual world where she was Teams Chair as well as Event Chair for her local Relay. She also worked for the Canadian Cancer Society as a Relay For Life Staff Partner where she over saw 5 Relays in her Province.
In real life, Nuala loves to travel and has been to the top of the Eiffel Tower, explored the catacombs in the underground of Paris, did some Swing dancing along the Siene, sat quietly in Monet’s garden in Giverney and danced at the Royal Serenade in the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles. She has also climbed the Pyramid of Kukulkan (El Castillo) in Chichen Itza and swam in an underground cenote in the Yucatan Peninsula. Nuala loved exploring the beaches and coral reef on the western shore of Cozumel as well as a Pearl Farm on the northern side of the island. Nuala is planning to do the International March Of The Living in Poland and Israel in 2022.
