T1Radio’s Relay Rap Production Staff

Trader WhiplashHost & Executive Producer

Trader conceived of Relay Rap during the 2012 Relay season. His idea was to create a vehicle to bring teams and volunteers together, to highlight the people behind the avatars in SL’s most passionate community, and to help provide a better understanding of the mission of the American Cancer Society.

Sandie Loxingly Slate – Co – Host

Sandie Loxingly Slate joined Second Life in 2010 and became a regular on Relay Rap in 2019. She is a two-time cancer survivor and all too many times cancer caregiver.  Each show she reports on items of interest from the American Cancer Society, program updates and cancer news, with a special focus on survivors and caregivers.

After volunteering for several years with her hometown Relay event Sandie was excited to find Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society here in Second Life. She became involved with the American Cancer Society in Second Life in 2011 volunteering with both Relay For Life and Making Strides.

As a Relay For Life volunteer Sandie has served as a team captain and co-captain on her RFL teams over the years and was a Team Coach in 2015 and Team Assistant in 2017 working with RFL teams to reach their goals. She has also been a deejay in Second Life since 2014 – learning the craft on the fly because of a need for a deejay for a team RFL event.

She has been part of the Making Strides committee since 2014 and served as a lead since 2016. In 2018 she established Out Shop Cancer, a gridwide shopping event in support of Making Strides that takes shoppers to in-world stores as well as marketplace stores during the month of October with all proceeds going to support Making Strides.

In September 2018 Sandie was named lead of Hope Haven, the home of the in-world programs and services as well as information and outreach of the American Cancer Society. At Hope Haven, Sandie oversees the the peer to peer ACS Cancer Survivors Network and the ACS Cancer Caregivers Network groups which provide support to cancer survivors and cancer caregivers around the world here in Second Life. Hope Haven also provides access to all Second Life residents to download Personal Health Manager Kits, connect to the NCIC via webchat during designated weekday hours, as well provide information on American Cancer Society programs, services, research and global partnerships.

In 2019 through Hope Haven, Sandie formed partnerships between the American Cancer Society in Second Life and members of the Second Life LGBT community and continues to work with Second Pride and the Pride Festival SL to educate and empower people with information on prevention,  initiatives and access to services to help reduce cancer risks within the LGBT community worldwide.

Deanna Lancaster – Producer

Deanna Lancaster is a long time relayer. Her first Relay for Life was in High School in 1995 as part of her high school’s Rotary Interact Club. She and her friends camped out on the track or slept in their vehicles at a local high school in their county’s first Relay for Life Events.

After a few year’s breaks, her mom was asked to be part of a second event closer to her home. She was voluntold that she would be running the computer as part of the luminaria committee. She soon moved up to the role of relay co-chair for the entire event. Unfortunately, the event didn’t last but a few years before it folded and she moved to Second Life in 2006 and 2007 staying on the outskirts on the event.

In 2017, after some life changes including a diagnosis of thyroid cancer, Deanna found herself with time on her hands. She returned to Second Life and volunteered to be part of the committee, taking on the role of the Luminaria Chair. Unfortunately, soon after, she had to leave world again and was unable to return in April of 2021 where she has returned to the relay world with a bang!

She has taken on the roles of Host Manager for the Renaissance Festival, Christmas Expo, Team Captain for the Dream Team (formerly Team Shadows) and now that Assistant Co-Producer for Relay Rap.
